Merry Mall Christmas!
Just want to wish all you wonderful Malls of America readers out there (those who celebrate it anyway) a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! Here's hoping you stay warm, cozy, and safe this holiday season, and that Santa brings you everything you wished for!
Btw, the photo above is the Country Club Plaza shopping district, in Kansas City, Missouri, decorated for the holidays.
Enjoy your Christmas Day tomorrow, as I know I will, and I'll catch you all the next day with more retro shopping mall grooviness...
Happy Holidays! :)
Keith

Yes, Merry Christmas to you as well, Keith. Thanks too, for the retro-mall goodness.
Country Club sure went the whole nine-yards in those days. I can't find the right word for that scene.
And a Merry Christmas to you, Keith!
I love the photo as well. It should be overkill, but for some reason it's lovely.
Here is the current Plaza web cam: http://www.kctv5.com/Global/story.asp?S=1035755
Happy Holidays!!!
Merry Christmas and thank yiu for taking us back in time in your fun blog!!
merry christmas!
i LOVE all your blogs :)
I was at the Country Club Plaza back in November and have some photos of it up on my Flickr account. They still have a Christmas lighting ceremony but I think all of the lights are white now instead of colored. The only department store left is Halls. The old Sears is a multi-plex, and the old Macy's is a Barnes and Noble.
No, the Plaza lights are indeed still all colored.
Also, that picture is from the 80s due to Swanson's in the lower left being there (now a Cheesecake Factory and was a Mark Shale up until November) and the Plaza movie theatre in the pic is now a Restoration Hardware and has been for 7 or so years.
