Gorgeous vintage postcard photo of a dazzling and colorful fountain in an outdoor court area at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. I believe this dates to sometime in the '60s. Caption on the back reads:
"Ala Moana Shopping Center - Pictured is a small portion of the fascinating array of fountains, trees, flowers, sculpture and art work found in this vast complex in Honolulu."Mall history: 1959 - present
Architect: John Graham Jr.

My sister said that this Ala Moana Shopping Center was very luxurious mall because she was near in this mall at Hawaii. I am hoping that I could visit this mall someday.
ReplyDeleteI am from the high school graduation Class of 1971, Leeward side of Oahu, Hawaii. Does anyone remember the name of the Art Gallery at Ala Moana Mall (1960s - 1970s), on the same level where Sears used to be? The gallery was further away from Sears, but before Shirokiyas. Once they had on display an amazing series of colorful planetary space orbs. I'm more interested in a large print of a young Caucasian female in jeans with long hair. She is sitting in a very casual, gentle, thoughtful repose. May have flowers in it, perhaps daisies. Dang pandemic has me reminiscing of lost youth and memories of a younger sister, as reflected in the purity of that portrait.
