WestShore Plaza

Tampa, Florida - 1960's

The WestShore Plaza is still there today (though the Woolworth's isn't, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear the fountain's gone as well) . Here's their current website.

  1. I loved the fountains in the old malls. You just don't see 'em anymore. Or rarely.

  2. This mall really has transformed. When the competing International Plaza was being built just a few short miles away, it was thought it would go under. But they overhauled and added to, and made it a great place to shop, relax, eat and watch a movie.

Nice to see the transformations along the way!!

Oh, and of course, I LOVE THIS BLOG!

  3. Yes the mall did a remarkable recovery from the dredded International Plaza near by (high end stuff cost too much just to step inside the place).

    Food court was redone.
It did had a FAO Schwarz until the companies demise. that closed

It still has J.C. Pennys, Dillards, it now has Sears in the Dillards spot, which came from the now demolished Tampa Bay Center Mall, 5th Avenue store, and it also has a AMC 16 screen theater on the second level. On top of the extra parking they added with parking garages.

It is definantly better than the first time I saw it when I moved down here in 92'

  4. I remember going to the Woolworth's with my parents in the early eighties. That was the place I got my first pair of mirrored sunglasses. The Woolworth's is definitely gone and the area where the fountain once was is now where santa and the easter bunny setup.
