Oh, my goodness, such a lovely postcard! I love this one! I actually like the clothes as well as the atmosphere. Everything looks so perfect. I want to transport myself back in time.
Oh, if only I could shop there just once...
The window display is fantastic indeed. It looks like stage scenery - with its special air of mystery.

It's a great shot but it kinda creeps me out. There has to be some "Urban Legend" about New York models crossing some meek window dresser who flips out, kills the models, stuffs them and sticks them in the windows so they are forced to watch the passing world forever. Hang on. I think I need to make a movie.
They even had window displays in freestanding Sears stores, must've been really cool to see. Esp;ecially at night.
Vintage display windows are marvellous ! I went to Las Vegas recently, and much of what I saw made me ill.The mannequins were just ball heads with no facial features. The lighting was gaudy. The clothing was garish, and priced insanely. I prefer the old days.
May I please go shopping at this department store????
