MOA Galleria - Belknap Mall Zayre Store
What lies at the end of the rainbow? A shopping mall of course!
In this case it's Belknap Mall, pictured here in April of 1978, from the parking lot in front of the mall's Zayre department store just after a late-afternoon or evening Spring rain, it would appear. Image via habspuck's photos on Flickr.

If that was a Caldor, which used the rainbow motif, that would have been even cooler. :-)
I loved Zayre as a kid! And no I am not ashamed to admit that. LOL!
Dark clouds seemed to follow the poor old Zayre chain until the end. I remember it briefly as a kid, but I second Swain on the rainbow-draped Caldor.
That Zayre echoes many stores later branded as Ames (some of which still are lingering today) but with this particular location, Zayre88 claims it had a something of a shuffled history.

Heh, Steven, I agree! :D
Didi: Aw don't worry, we won't make fun of you... much. (Hey everyone! Did ya hear?! Didi loved Zayre as a kid!!!!)
;)
I think I will join a Zayre Anonymous support group now so we can work on why we can't get over how fascinating the brown and orange color scheme was or how enthralling those huge air conditioners on the ceilings were.
