Retro Retail Video: Parly 2 Shopping Centre

France - 1975

W
ow, this is a great bit of vintage retail advertising! It's a 1975 French TV commercial for the Parly 2 Shopping Centre, which opened in 1969 (thanks for this one spuzzlightyear). Catchy jingle here especially. Only problem now is, I can't get it out of my head!

Here's the broken English translation (some of it I don't quite get) of the mall's history from their website: "The center Parly 2 opens its doors on November 4, 1969. It is the first commercial complex in France to join together qualitative and varied signs clothing, of decoration and leisures.

As well place of life, spaces dawdling which center of shopping, it then addresses to the privileged customers west of Paris, which enjoys the delights of the consumer society to the apogee of the Thirty Glorious ones. Parly 2 wants to be to some extent “small Paris” of Yvelines. The center enorgueillit, at the moment of its creation, of an architecture and a déco of avant-garde."

"Priveleged customers", 'consumer society" sounds a bit snooty in this translation.

Wow a mall without any escalators that rare! The stairs are more fun to use rather than waiting on a slow slow moving escalator IMHO.

Check out that flower styled Parly 2 logo! don't blink or you'll miss it!

and dancing in a mall? I've thought I've seen it all.

excellent, excellent, excellent,truly modern.
