Loving that the price of everything else has jumped over the last 30 years, except for the price of calculators...
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they also had a variety store. We had a Ben Franklin Crafts, but they closed after about 10 years of business. I thought they were long gone.

I still get Irish Spring all the time here in MI. It's everywhere here.
ReplyDeleteScott: I believe the variety stores (aka dimestores, as they called them) actually came first. Then they spun-off the craft outlets sometime later.
Someplace they don't have Irish Spring? I'm moving...
ReplyDeleteI remember the Ben Franklin dime store we used to have here in my town. It closed in 1990-91 if I'm not mistaken. Still miss the place. Shame they've had to close so many stores.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the dime stores came waaaaay before the craft stores. In some cases, there were even Ben Franklin Family Centers; I don't know what exactly those were.
