Mall del Norte

Laredo, Texas - circa late '70s

Another kind of gloomy looking interior photo of Mall del Norte (like the last one I posted of it). Though I'm not complaining, because I like them dark and gloomy, as I've mentioned before. I'm not sure why, I just do. The darker and gloomier, the betterer ! :)

  1. Chess King! Parachute pants and Chams shirts! A Bridal shop appears to be next door. Notice the Spanish tile on that mall kiosk -- looks out of place for some reason.

  2. Gloomy, yes, but neat in it's own way.

  5. This photo is near what was called "Center Court", the supposed middle point and main entrance of the mall. Going from south to north, the major points were:

    Sears - South anchor
Richer's - west side, middle south
Center Court - The Whistle Stop entrance was outside of these main doors and Wyatt's Cafeteria was just inside
Joe Brand - west side, middle north (at this point, the mall turned to the east)
    Dillard's - north anchor
Food Court - Chik Fil A, KarmelKorn, the Big Scoop, Al's Pizza (later Sal's Pizza), Silver Coin video arcade, and UA Theater were the long-term tenants here.
    Montgomery Ward - east anchor
