Wichita, Kansas - circa 1956 Swanktastic sign (designed and built by
Claude Neon Federal Signs) at the Edgemoor Plaza shopping center in Wichita, KS. Edgemoor Plaza originally opened to shoppers in 1954. Not sure if it's still there today (and if so, under what name).

WOW!
ReplyDeleteI love that one!
Thanks, Zubby, I do too! Very swanky.
ReplyDeleteThat sign really blows me away. And I know I always say that about all the signs you feature on here, Keith!
ReplyDeleteYes, as of a couple years ago this sign was still up. The shopping center itself didn't look so great as many of the neat old strip malls this from this era. When I drove by and seen the sign it felt like you were back in the 50's or 60's. This shopping center is close to the same part of town as the Pawnee Plaza Mall that you featured awhile ago. Unfortunatly, that was torn down to build another Walmart.
ReplyDeleteYes, the sign is still there and in pristine condition. Even the neon is intact. The accompanying strip mall is fully occupied with an ethnic restaurant and a bar.
