Winter Park Mall

Winter Park, Florida - February, 1972

Interior view of the Walgreens and court area inside Winter Park Mall (now Winter Park Village) in the early '70s, long before its massive "de-malling" redevelopment of recent years. No, this was taken when life was groovy and chicks still walked around in go-go boots and bouffants!

It's Ivey's.

Look at all those tuckered-out people sitting on that bench on the left... must have been a really exhausting day of shopping!

Cora, I believe it was Ivey's, not Macy's. The mall had a Dillard's at one point, and I know some Ivey's locations were converted to Dillard's.

Whoops, didn't realize Tkaye above me had already confirmed it as Ivey's!

This is a real cool pic.

I did some research on the Winter Park Mall, this for a prospective article on The Mall Hall Of Fame blog.

I went to the Orange County, Florida website and looked up the land parcel information (this area of the website was NOT easy to navigate). Anyway, the info on the site dates construction of the mall to 1964.

Does this seem right?

Love the big round planters hanging from the sky. Too bad this place is gone. They really gave us plenty of fodder to comment on, though.
