Capital Hill Mall

Helena, Montana - 1980
Here's a nice little shot of the Capital Hill Mall (another new mall I haven't yet blogged here), during the holiday season in 1980.
I don't know much about this mall that I can add here, but just looking at the picture you can see there's a 4-B's Cafeteria on the left in this view (never heard of those myself), and a Hennessey's anchor store down near the end. Please do comment if you have any memories or info to share on this mall.
Mall history: 1964 - present

Is this a postcard? Because it looks more like a homemade shot.
The photo of Capital Hill Mall is indeed homemade; I made it. I know a little about the earlier years of the mall, having spent a lot of time hanging out there during my high school days, but I haven't lived in Helena since 1972.
There has lately been more than just talk about converting the mall into new headquarters for the Montana Historical Society:

I don't know the current status of this plan.
The prevalence of lumberjack shirts in this image certainly seems to confirm certain stereotypes about Montana.
By the way, are those garlands Christmas decorations? It certainly looks that way.
Well I dont know if this counts as a story, but in that mall was the first time that I got lost from my parents, back in 1980 I was a kid of 3 years old, that was a scary moment that I still remember.
