JCPenney TV commercial (1985)
It's time for the JCPenney Bassett Bedding Bonanza! If you happen to be looking for both bedding and a bonanza, all at the same time, you're in luck! JCPenney has you covered.This is a cheesy old Penney's commercial that, according to the YouTube uploader, was recorded Memorial Day weekend of 1985. And in '85, these were some pretty slick and cutting edge TV ad graphics, let me tell you! The sound effects are quite amazing too. :D

I believe '85 also was the year Jc Penney dropped their MCS line of stereo equipment. Yes, believe it or not, Pennys at one time SOLD AUDIO AND VIDEO.
Eh, most people (here in 2006) do consider 1985 somewhat old & vintage (or whatever you want to call it) at this point. My personal "vintage" cutoff is a actually little further back, too, but hey.
Main point really was that it's an older, cheesy Penney's spot that I thought was neat. The "vintage" term was partly for search engine/Google Ads benefit, heh.
Don't ever overthink my tomfoolery here at this blog. ;)

Not so much CGI, as I assume it was all opticals and simple matting techniques that were possible on film by that point. The music in this piece I've heard used a year before for a toy commercial as well, so it's all typical stock library tracks in use here.

You don't have to tell me, my family's first portable VCR and video camera was a JCPenny brand from '81!
I think 1985 or 86 was the last year the JCPenny in Franklin Park had it's restaurant near the south side entrance of the building. Today, it has since been a beauty salon (I miss the days when it used to be such a common thing to go eat at a department store like Wards, Pennys or the Elder-Beerman's in Toledo).

Most people that would call this old are about half my age, and had never been born, or lived long enough to experience the 80's like I did!

To me, something I would consider "old" or "vintage" to be anything past the 1970's, given that I was born in '77.
