Abandoned mall art

Many thanks to Geoff Manaugh, of BLDGBLOG, for giving me the heads up on this wonderful work by Brooklyn-based painter, Angelina Gualdoni. I love it! Gualdoni paints eerie, haunting impressions of urban decay (and the promise of renewal). For our purposes here, I'm showcasing specifically, her abandoned shopping mall paintings of Dixie Square Mall. All are oil and acrylic on canvas.

The Slow Continuum That Proceeds in Your Absence (2005)

Transference in Aurora, IL (2004)

Nocturne (2005)

All of This is Present Here (2005)

You can read more about the artist and her Dixie Square paintings in particular, in this entry at BLDGBLOG.

Those are just beautiful! Wow. Love to have each one hanging in my house. Does this artist specialize in painting old malls or is it just this one series? I really like the look and feel of them.
