The only May Company that I can recall being down there is the one in Carlsbad's Plaza Camino Real that opened in 1969.
Carlsbad has been a relatively small town and there was never one downtown.
It looks more '60s than '70s, but the heavy dose of harvest gold suggests '70s more.
Yes, it's still around and going strong in spite of another area just northwest (across Highway 78) that includes a Wal Mart and Best Buy. It's been upgraded and modernized more than once...
Thats what I thought. So this could be Plaza Camino Real. The Robinsons-May there is slated for closure or already has closed I beleive.
I'd love to browse this place. The jewellery probably wasn't all that, but the surroundings looks just perfect for buying pretty baubles.
Looking at the Westfield Plaza Camino Real Website......
Just as I thought. Plaza Camino Real, which opened in 1969.
Finell's Jewlery is still there today.
I worked for Finell Jewelers in 1990-91. Wonderful people with upscale jewelery...same decor as pictured. I left California in `94 and learned that this store was remodeled and relocated within same El Camino Real Mall.
fantastic place to work and shop!
