Chris-Town Mall

Phoenix, Arizona - 1964

Wow! Feast your eyes on this beauty! Simply stunning. Chris-Town had character to spare back in the day, that's for dang sure!

This is the "Court of Flowers" section. Check out that cool red bull resting in the foliage there. It's Chris-Town Mall's Ferdinand the Bull! Swank just doesn't get much better than this, man. Wonder if they were able to keep kids off that thing? Can't imagine. The Sidewalk Cafe is visible in the background.

It looks more like a unicorn to me...which is even swankier.

I have many fond memories of Chris-Town as a child. Phoenix's Korricks stores were acquired by The Broadway (an L.A. chain) in the 1960's. Today Korricks' former location is home to a Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Chris-Town still exists but is known as Phoenix Spectrum Mall. It is not nearly as funky as it was when this picture was taken and truly is a shadow of its former self.

Thanks for digging this one up Keith!

This is the look that the ultra hip casinos in Las Vegas are spending millions to achieve.
Just throw a craps table in there and we are ready to roll!
Thanks for that picture..
What do you think they are eating at the coffee shop over there??
