Lake Air Shopping Center
Waco, Texas
For some reason, I just love the inside of this mall--sparse and pukey-colored as it may look! To me it's a thing of pure beauty. Wish I were there right now, the day this photo was taken. '60s or '70s.
Went one or two times in the mid sixties when my sister was getting ready to go to The University of Texas. It was a thrill for me to get to see Lake Air and it seemed so glamorous to a ten year old. I can't believe it is gone.
This was probably taken in the late 70's or early 80's. Richland Mall took all the business away from Lake Air Mall. I was in Waco during the final days and the mall was nearly empty. So sad. Dianna
Now Ridgeland Mall is on its' downward slope due to the HUGE outdoor mall by the interstate-- Central Texas Marketplace! It was built in 2004 and added to this year.
Just keep those blogs coming Keith! Love them all! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, one man! I will do my best. I'm holding a few back simply so I don't overwhelm anyone! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnyway, as always, I appreciate your visit and nice comments!
I miss the Lake Air Mall... I believe it was the first indoor mall in Texas.
ReplyDeleteNow it's a strip mall with a huge Target.
Aren't they all (almost) these days, Noddy93? :(
ReplyDeleteI remember Lake Air Mall. It's been years since I was in Waco, and I didn't know it had been torn down. Wow...

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any Christmas pics from lake air or the parade from the 60s or 70s?
