Mall Sign: Northland Shopping Center

Tulsa, Oklahoma

The beautiful 1950s-era sign at the old Northland Shopping Center in Tulsa, OK (courtesy of Roadside Architecture). This mall first opened in the '50s and finally closed around 1990. The above photo was taken in recent years, though the sign itself still retained its original vintage look.

  1. What a beauty! Glad it survived even though the mall it once pointed to did not.

  6. For the most part a good hurt. It is a good hurt, unless they are in horrible condition. Two old 50's era neon signs near my house are beyond recognition. One has faded and the only thing you can make out is an old analog type of clock and the other has been stripped to the basics which once had the name of the restuurant/bar with a cute little martini glass. That is when it hurts.

  7. The Northland sign(s) were porcelain plated. Thats why after 50 years they outlast anything made nowdays. Should have seen this puppy at night in the 1960s.

  8. When The shopping Center's Grand Opening was held A contest was held
for Miss Northland. I was a Student Nurse at Hillcrest School of Nursing.
I was chosen Miss Northland. I received free weekly trips to the beauty shop in the center for a year
I recently found the picture with
the fancy dress and the crown. Froug's
Dept Store supplied the dress and
    shoes. Almeta Robertson
