Beautiful? I think this bizarre hybrid of Pokey and a seahorse is going to give me nightmares for weeks to come.

LOL! It does look like a seahorse. LMAO because my first impression was that it was a little weird.
Bah! I stand by my admittedly weird taste and still say, 'tis indeed beautiful to mine eyes! Weird? Perhaps (to the unenlightened, hehe), but still beautiful.
But then I like and prefer "weird" things. Weird books, movies, music, art... the weirder the better! The lunatic is indeed running the asylum here at this blog!!! :D
I believe that there are two types of weird. There's the weird that is weird in a good and cool way and there is the weird that falls under the pattern of bizarre. This fountain follows the latter definition. It's nice when one isn't ashamed to display the all types of weird things that they like.
That's a work of art, man! It IS beautiful!!! I sat and marvelled at it many times with my dad. Give me a couple days and I can probably find out again who the sculptor was.
Color me weird, too.
That photo of the Sea Horse brings back memories. When they enclosed Dadeland Mall 25 plus years ago they were going to tear it down because of the roof. People protested and it remained intact and they built the roof higher over the fountain. Sadly, while it lasted many more years it was taken down a few years ago.
I called the mall about ten years ago, to find out what happened to it. Apparently, during one renovation, they cut it in half, and put it in storage. Creeps broke into the warehouse, and stole the top half of the horse, most likely dumping it in the nearby canal. The old smaller head-busting stone animals that were spread throughout the mall, ended up at the Metro Zoo (or whatever that zoo is called).
My family members & I (natives of South Florida but all living elsewhere now) were discussing this fountain & what it actually was(a horse, a dragon?). I was so pleased to find this website. Still not sure what the creature is, but the picture & the follow up of what happened to it is great, but sad.
