REPOST: Vintage shopping radio spots!

By popular demand I'm reposting my vintage shopping radio spots again so everyone who missed them the first time, can finally hear them as well. Enjoy!

Hey gang! I think a lot of you are going to dig this. I know I sure do.

Here are some old shopping center and department store radio spots I've scrounged around and collected. These were all culled from old radio recordings, and they vary somewhat in volume, so I advise you to be ready to adjust yours from one file to the next. Quality varies, too; some sound great, some terrible.

Vintage commercials like these, really capture the magical vibe and lure of retro shopping spaces. Download these babies, throw 'em all into your MP3 player of choice, close your eyes and let the magic begin! It's also kind of cool to gaze at the pictures here on the blog, whilst listening to these groovy sounds.

The files are all in a zip file in MP3 format, and hosted by Rapidshare. Hope it all works smoothly for everyone. Please drop me an e-mail or post here if you have any problems. Just follow the instructions closely at the download link (choose the "free" option), and you should be good to go in no time. It's all pretty self-explanatory, and a complete track listing is included in the zip.

Hope you enjoy the sounds! Yes, there's more to come... :)

Download the complete collection right here! (6.24 MB)

Thank you and bless you for reposting this! Does anyone happen to remember Saks Fifth Avenue's advertising jingle in the late 70's or early 80's? I would always here it (in Los Angeles) during the Today Show and nobody else seems to remember it. It went..."We are all the things you are. All the looks of you. We are all the things you are. At Saks Fifth Avenue.

I'm the only one here with a problem- Rapidshare says the file session had ended, when I tried to download it.

Thanks for sharing these! I liked Kmart and Robert Hall the best. I've been moved to put up some vintage ('70s) retail (e.g. Dayton-Hudson) and other audio clips here:
audio: vintage commercials

jliscorpio: Yes, I remember that Saks jingle. I liked it. I can hear it in my head right now. Thanks for the memory! Anyone here have a copy?

Ian: Downloads fine for me. Hope you've figured it out by now, but if not, maybe you just need to restart the download process again. If you wait too long after the Rapidshare download start countdown timer expires, they make you go back and restart the whole process. That's all I can think of. Appears to be fine.

let me know if you continue to have problems.

I'll have to check out them mall spots! I used to record Vegas casino spots from KDWN-AM, where their signal reached my grandmothers house in Pismo Beach, CA. I think I got a couple of spots for "Maryland Mall". I'll have to check.

"The MiMi Shop makes me bubble"
Truly Track 12 summed it all up for me.

I just got a chance to listen to this, and it's very clever how much was found of that period. Love the '61 Kmart jingle!
